WAFCON Triumph: Tinubu Pays Super Falcons $100,000 Each, Officials Get $50,000

According to a report by Vanguard on Monday, November 2, 2026, President Bola Tinubu has fulfilled his financial reward promise to the Super Falcons following their victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with each player receiving $100,000 and team officials collecting $50,000 in naira equivalent.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed that the Federal Government had completed the disbursement of the promised cash incentives to the players, coaches and other officials as part of the presidential reward package announced after Nigeria secured its 10th continental title.

The financial rewards were accompanied by other benefits previously approved by Tinubu, including three-bedroom apartments in Abuja and national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) for members of the victorious delegation.

Nigeria claimed the championship in July 2025 after overcoming hosts Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final. The Super Falcons recovered from a two-goal deficit to secure the victory and extend their record as the most successful team in the history of the women's continental competition.

The NSC welcomed the completion of the payments, describing the fulfilment of the promise as recognition of the players' and officials' contributions to Nigerian football.
