According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday, October 29, 2026, a Barcelona supporter could face a substantial financial penalty and a possible stadium ban after allegedly striking Eduardo Camavinga and other Real Madrid players with a flagpole during the recent El Clasico encounter at Camp Nou.
The incident has attracted the attention of Spanish authorities, with Catalan police reportedly identifying the individual and beginning administrative proceedings following a formal complaint from LaLiga. Barcelona have also assisted investigators in establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The alleged assault occurred when Real Madrid players were celebrating their second goal during the heated encounter. According to reports, the supporter used a flagpole to strike Camavinga and other players in the face, prompting an investigation into the conduct of the spectator.
The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police force, have reportedly identified the individual and initiated proceedings under Spain's Sports Law. The applicable punishment will depend on the classification of the offence by the relevant authorities.
Under the legislation, serious infringements can attract fines ranging from €3,000 to €60,000. However, offences classified as very serious carry significantly higher penalties, ranging from €60,001 to €650,000.
Available reports indicate that the incident is expected to be treated as a serious infringement because it did not result in physical damage. If that classification is maintained, the supporter could receive a financial penalty within the lower statutory range.
In addition to the potential fine, the individual could also face restrictions preventing attendance at sporting events for between two and five years.
Barcelona's cooperation has reportedly contributed to the identification process. LaLiga acknowledged the club's security department for providing assistance to the police during their investigation.
The league also disclosed that the supporter is associated with a group linked to the Grada 1957 section at Camp Nou. The matter is expected to be forwarded to Barcelona's Disciplinary Committee for consideration of possible additional sanctions.
The committee could impose internal disciplinary measures independently of the administrative proceedings being handled under Spanish law.
The incident has renewed discussions about spectator conduct and security arrangements during high-profile football matches. With El Clasico attracting enormous attention from supporters around the world, authorities are expected to take the investigation seriously.
The final punishment will depend on the outcome of the ongoing proceedings and the authorities' assessment of the alleged offence.
