According to a video posted on PBD Podcast Podcast on Tuesday October 19, 2026, Floyd Mayweather said his five-year-old grandson boxes every day and could be the next Floyd Mayweather. He said his daughter makes sure the boy goes to the boxing gym daily. He spoke when the host asked whether there is a Floyd Mayweather in boxing today.

Mayweather said there is not one yet. The host asked if he was joking, and Mayweather said he was not. He said the boy goes to school and then to what he called his second school.

In his words, Floyd Mayweather said, “Not yet, but my grandson could be the next Floyd Mayweather. My grandson is boxing every day. My daughter makes sure her son goes to the boxing gym every day.

"He goes to school, then he go to his second school, a couple hours, two hours. Right now I’m just letting him. He don’t want to listen. All he want to do is spar. But I’m telling him every day you have to learn the techniques about boxing. He want to box everybody in the gym,” he said.

Mayweather said the boy is very smart and intelligent. He said that if he had to do it all over again, he would change nothing, because he would not have the same grandson. He called his grandson his pride and joy.

He said one of the best gifts God has given him is his grandson. He added that his own father is the best man God ever made. He said his father pushed him into the sport.

Mayweather said anyone who wants a champion must start early, not at 16. He said he was in the gym every day from the age of one or two. He said that is why he believes in starting children early.
