Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has broken his silence after missing out on the 2026 Ballon d’Or award ceremony held in London on Monday night.
Taking to his official Instagram page, the Spain international shared a composed yet confident message with his supporters, reaffirming his belief that his moment to claim football’s most prestigious individual honour will eventually arrive.
Yamal finished third in the final rankings, behind England captain Harry Kane and France captain Kylian Mbappé.
However, the disappointment has done little to shake his confidence in his career trajectory.
“It [Ballon d’Or] will come; good things take time. I trust the path I am building. My time will come,” Yamal wrote on Instagram.
The Barcelona star also congratulated Kane on winning the Ballon d’Or, demonstrating sportsmanship despite missing out on the top prize.
The 19-year-old, meanwhile, has enjoyed significant success, claiming the Kopa Trophy, as well as winning the 2026 World Cup and lifting last season’s LaLiga title.
