Bordeaux targets Almamy Touré and seeks goalkeeper

FC Girondins de Bordeaux are actively shaping their squad for the 2026-2027 Régional 1 campaign, targeting former player Almamy Touré and searching for a new goalkeeper after Dutch shot-stopper Jan Hoekstra turned down a return due to family reasons, WebGirondins reported.

The club’s general manager, Arnaud Saint-André, outlined the club’s ongoing recruitment strategy during an appearance on the Débrief à Chaud program. Following an agreement with Burkinabe winger Joffrey Bazié—who spent roughly ten days on trial before terms were settled—the leadership team turned its attention toward bolstering other positions for coach Arnaud Cormier’s side.

Pursuit of Almamy Touré for the New Defensive Project

Bordeaux hopes to convince Almamy Touré to rejoin the club for their sixth-tier journey. Saint-André acknowledged that discussions are underway alongside the coaching staff to persuade a player who featured for the squad last term to accept the new sporting project.

According to journalist Laurent Crocis on WebGirondins, that player is 30-year-old Almamy Touré. While the club views him as a priority addition to reinforce the defensive group, Saint-André noted that no formal agreement has been reached with the defender yet.

Goalkeeper Search Following Jan Hoekstra Rejection

The search for a new goalkeeper remains a primary objective for Bordeaux’s front office. Saint-André revealed that the club attempted to bring back Jan Hoekstra, who guarded the goal for the club last season.

Hoekstra gave the proposal serious consideration before ultimately declining the offer. Citing family reasons, the Dutch goalkeeper refused to sign, leaving management to evaluate alternative candidates to secure the position.

Roster Additions Ahead of Régional 1 Fixtures

In parallel with squad planning discussions, Bordeaux bolstered their roster ahead of their fifth-round Régional 1 fixture away to the reserve team of Aviron Bayonnais, Foot National reported. The club announced the arrivals of three seasoned players following their administrative relegation by the Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion (DNCG).

Midfielder Baptiste Isola signed with the club after his contract with Grenoble expired. The 25-year-old midfielder spent part of his summer preparation with the Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP) training camp alongside several players who also moved to Bordeaux, including Léo Jousselin, Driss Trichard, Steve Shamal, and Namakoro Diallo, according to the UNFP.

Defensive and Offensive Reinforcements

Bordeaux also secured the signature of 30-year-old defender Namakoro Diallo, a product of Stade Rennais with prior stints at Nîmes and Quevilly-Rouen Métropole. In attack, the club added 31-year-old Belgian forward Baptiste Guillaume following his departure from Le Mans after their promotion to Ligue 1, as reported by Foot National.

Guillaume expressed enthusiasm about his move to the club’s official media outlet, ScapFM, in remarks relayed by WebGirondins. When the Girondins do what it takes to recruit you, it’s impossible for me to refuse, Guillaume said, while warning that the challenge in the regional division demands full focus. If we tell ourselves that it will be easy because it’s an R1, we’re completely wrong.

With Bazié’s arrival confirmed, ongoing talks with Touré, and an active search for a goalkeeper, Bordeaux’s roster reconstruction continues ahead of their upcoming matches in France’s sixth division.
