According to Marca (via Record), Barcelona could be prepared to part ways with Alejandro Balde as the club looks to generate funds for defensive reinforcements elsewhere. The Catalan giants want to strengthen at centre-back and may need player sales in order to finance new arrivals.
Barcelona are reportedly concerned about their lack of depth in central defence behind first-choice pairing Pau Cubarsi and Gerard Martin. With Andreas Christensen viewed as the only direct alternative and injury concerns surrounding the Danish defender, the club is exploring options to bolster the position.
Balde’s future has become increasingly uncertain due to his lack of playing time under manager Hansi Flick. The Spanish international has reportedly fallen to fifth in the full-back pecking order, despite being the only natural left-footed player among the options available. This season, he has made just one start and accumulated only 116 minutes of action in all competitions.
Barcelona would be open to selling the 23-year-old in January if a suitable offer arrives. Financial vice-president Ferran Olive recently acknowledged that the club must sell players before making significant signings due to financial restrictions.
Manchester United have been mentioned as a potential destination for Balde before, and they are believed to be searching for reinforcements at left-back for January. Liverpool are said to be interested too.
