Rams coach unveils plan for Aaron Donald after epic failure: ‘I’m going to give him such a hard time’

Aaron Donald has made so many brilliant plays in his career, but there are some that he would probably like back, and Sunday was a testament to that.

In the Rams’ 24-9 victory against the Chargers, the clock was winding down past the two-minute mark of the third quarter and outside linebacker Wesley Bailey gave Donald the perfect opportunity to score a touchdown — only for him to completely squander it — and for his head coach Sean McVay to blast him during his post-game presser.

“Oh man I’m going to give him such a hard time about that,” McVay said to California Post senior sports reporter Michael Duarte. “I saw what he was thinking because it was going right in front of you and he’s thinking, ‘I’m going to scoop and score”

“And then he knocks that s—t out of bounds. I mean, what the hell,” he added.

To make matters worse, Donald has never had a touchdown in his career and as of now, it will stay that way.

Bailey chased down quarterback Justin Herbert and got the sack with a forced fumble and the ball landed right in front of Donald.

Donald chased after the ball but ended up tripping over his own two feet — forcing it to land out of bounds.

After he missed the opportunity, the Fox broadcast camera showed Donald laying on the ground at SoFi Stadium with a smile on his face, as he knew he messed up.

Donald’s teammates decided to have fun with the future Hall of Famer by pretending to press down on his chest to give him life again.

“His face, he couldn’t even look at me and make eye contact after that,” McVay said. “But at least we can laugh about it right now.”

While Donald missed his golden opportunity, at the play, the Rams defense was a nightmare for Herbert — who finished the game giving up three turnovers, that included interceptions by Quentin Lake and Trent McDuffie who made his return from a groin injury.

The Rams defense finished the game holding the Chargers offense to 281 yards, while Donald had two tackles, including one for a loss.
