MIAMI —

FC Cincinnati fans could go to bed Wednesday night with a playoff spot clinched.

The Orange and Blue return to action against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF and, with a win and some help, could clinch a playoff appearance for a fifth straight season.

A win for Cincinnati Wednesday night, coupled with a Columbus loss at FC Dallas, would cement The FC in the postseason field.

Miami has already clinched a playoff spot and currently sit in third place in the East, tied with New England with 55 points. New England has a goal-differential tie-breaker over the two clubs.

After not winning a match in September, FCC has put together a strong October, having won three of the five matches they've played so far, including winning two straight over DC United last week.

FCC fell to Miami, 5-3, earlier this year at TQL Stadium.

Including Wednesday night, three matches remain for the Orange and Blue. Currently, Cincinnati sits in eighth place in the East, but are tied with Orlando in points, and could jump into seventh place by the end of the night.

Kickoff Wednesday from South Florida is set for 7:30 p.m.
