FC Barcelona will face Paris Saint-Germain later tonight in a highly anticipated UEFA Champions League match at Parc des Princes.
according to Tot Costa (h/t SPORT), Barcelona will have to return to last season’s orange kit for their Champions League encounter against PSG after UEFA ruled that none of their three current kits could be used.
According to the source, the decision was prompted by television broadcast restrictions, with UEFA aiming to create a clear visual separation between the two teams.
Barcelona will wear orange versus Paris Saint-Germain. The option has also been featured in the club’s official match advertising media, with Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Anthony Gordon wearing last season’s shirt.
The decision comes despite Barça training in their blue training uniform on Monday, which hinted that they would use their third strip, which is created in two colors of electric blue.
However, neither their original blaugrana shirt, their black-and-purple second uniform devoted to Kobe Bryant, or their blue alternative has been allowed for the fixture.
All three have been ruled out for television broadcast purposes, forcing the La Liga winners to go beyond their present roster.
The orange jersey is from Nike’s Total 90 line, which was inspired by football fashion in the early 2000s.
Barcelona has already worn it during preseason, including a friendly against Basel, but will now wear it again for a crucial competitive match.
The situation exemplifies an unusual problem for a club with three kits available for the current season: being unable to use any of them for a specific match.
The color combinations of PSG’s kit, as well as the television broadcast requirements, have left Barcelona without an approved option from their current range.
As a result, Flick’s team must adjust their plans and reintroduce last season’s orange strip for their match against PSG at the Parc des Princes, with the goal of extending their season-long winning streak to 12.
