The 10 scariest high school football offenses this season

Halloween is almost here, and these offenses are giving opposing defenses plenty to fear. From scoring machines in Texas to some of the country's most prolific teams, these 10 programs have been putting points on the board at a ridiculous rate.

What teams have the scariest offensive unit? That's up for debate but taking a look at all corners of the country, here are our picks for the 10 offenses we would not want to line up against and would hate game planning for.

No. 4 Allen (TX)

Allen has been running up the scoreboard against some of the best competition Texas has to offer. The Eagles' schedule has included wins over Duncanville and DeSoto, two established powers, and they've shown they can put up points against just about anybody. At this rate, opposing defenses might need more than a week to figure them out.

No. 11 Carrollton (GA)

Carrollton has the kind of offense that can make a game get out of hand in a hurry. The Trojans have been one of Georgia's top teams this season, and their scoring average leaves little doubt about their ability to finish drives. There's a reason nobody wants to get into a shootout with this group, especially with Miami QB commit CJ Cypher leading the charge.

Carrollton (GA) sophomore running back Zach Watts celebrates a touchdown during a game.

Carrollwood Day (Tampa, FL)

Carrollwood Day has made life miserable for opposing defenses this fall. The Patriots have outscored their opponents 517-54, and junior running back Kameron Battle has been a major part of that success with 1,262 yards and 22 touchdowns. That's a rough combination for any defense to deal with.

James Wood (Winchester, VA)

James Wood belongs in this conversation simply because of how consistently it has been scoring. The Colonels are averaging more than 56 points per game, a number that puts enormous pressure on opposing offenses to keep pace. A couple of empty possessions can be all it takes to fall behind this group.

Notre Dame Academy (Green Bay, WI)

Good luck slowing down Kingston Allen. The Notre Dame Academy senior running back has been putting together a monster season, rushing for 2,797 yards and 54 touchdowns through 10 games. He's averaging nearly 280 yards on the ground per game, so opposing defenses have more than one reason to dread seeing the Tritons on the schedule. Allen quite literally is the Notre Dame offense.

Green Bay Notre Dame Academy’s Kingston Allen (7) scores the game winning touchdown against Kaukauna High School during their football game on Thursday, August 21, 2025 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Notre Dame defeated Kaukauna 27-20.

Randle (Richmond, TX)

Randle was once held to just three points earlier in the year, and it woke up a monster. The Lions have been a different beast ever since, with Landen Williams-Callis leading the charge and an offense that has found another gear. LWC is a nightmare matchup on his own, but when Randle gets rolling as a team, opposing defenses have an entirely different problem on their hands. One bad night might have been all it took to unleash something scary.

Sheridan (AR)

Sheridan can beat teams through the air or on the ground, and that's what makes the Yellowjackets so difficult to prepare for. Quarterback Easton Barksdale has been prolific as a passer, while running back Zay Stephens brings a punishing ground game. In a 67-29 win over West Memphis, Barksdale threw for 395 yards and seven touchdowns, while Stephens rushed for 303 yards and scored three times. That's a nightmare combination.

Smithson Valley (Spring Branch, TX)

Smithson Valley has been piling up points during an undefeated start, and the Rangers have plenty of weapons to make defenses sweat. Quarterback Ty Knutson directs the offense, with running back Caleb Peagler and receiver Schaeden Davis among the players opposing coordinators have to account for. With Smithson Valley chasing another deep playoff run, the Rangers have the personnel to make life miserable for whoever draws them next.

No. 10 The St. James Performance Academy (Springfield, VA)

The St. James Performance Academy hasn't exactly been shy about running up the score. The Strivers opened the season with a 66-0 win over Lehi, followed it with a 54-14 victory over Paramus Catholic and later put up 65 points against Mt. Zion Prep. They also beat St. Frances Academy, 28-20, in a matchup that demanded more than just a shootout. This offense has shown it can score in bunches against a variety of opponents.

No. 14 Thomas County Central (Thomasville, GA)

Thomas County Central has been one of Georgia's most dangerous offenses, averaging 54.3 points per game. The Yellow Jackets have shown they can put up points in a hurry, making them a tough matchup for any defense. With the postseason approaching, Thomas County Central has the firepower to turn a competitive game into a blowout before opponents know what hit them. They've eclipsed half a hundred five different times in just eight games.
