Michael Carrick is desperate to reverse Manchester United's fortunes against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon as he finds himself under huge pressure. The Red Devils haven't won a single match in their last seven games across all competitions and the top brass at Old Trafford will expect that to have changed when their 2pm tie with the Cherries wraps up.

However, in order to turn the tide and build momentum, Carrick has a number of underlying issues to address. Club captain Bruno Fernandes was spotted shaking his head in frustration as he was substituted for Joshua Zirkzee during Wednesday's encounter at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

And the Portuguese playmaker also publicly lambasted his head coach's tactics in the aftermath of their crushing defeat. Carrick responded with ugly comments of his own, claiming that his system doesn't work when players fail to run enough.

The 45-year-old has also maintained that he has held frequent contact with Sir Alex Ferguson and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he battles to keep his job. He explained: "I speak to both of them quite regularly, to be honest. I’m close to both of them and we do have regular conversations."

That hasn't prevented speculation over who could replace the Wallsend-born head coach in the event that the top brass at Old Trafford choose to explore other avenues in the near future - with Eddie Howe and Antonio Conte highlighted as potential successors.

Carrick's future with the club could all come down to the performance he is able to inspire as the Red Devils face Bournemouth. Ahead of an increasingly important fixture, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Manchester United news...

New 'JJ Gabriel' proves his worth

Carrick may not be the only familiar face leaving Old Trafford in the near future, given JJ Gabriel's situation with the club at present. The 16-year-old is considered to be one of United's brightest youth products at present, his close control and thirst for goals seeing him compared to the likes of Lionel Messi.

As a result, a number of clubs have shown an interest in taking the teenager off United's hands to help continue his development into the senior game. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be monitoring the talent, with Gabriel also making it clear in September that he wants to explore his opportunities away from his current club.

While losing Gabriel to another European powerhouse would be a major blow, another teenage sensation has emerged within the ranks of Carrington, one who could potentially go on to even exceed the expectations of Gabriel's towering ceiling.

That's because Jaume Camacho, 17, is thriving in Darren Fletcher's U18s set-up. The central midfielder bagged four goals during Saturday's 6-3 win over Liverpool U18s, a cut above his peers.

That tally takes his total to four goals and three assists from five appearances this season in the U18 Premier League and the club's hierarchy will certainly be keeping a close eye on the wonderkid to monitor his progression.

Major dressing room problem

Fernandes is not the only player who has recently spoken publicly about issues within the club, with Lisandro Martinez making headlines earlier this month with a scathing rant directed toward the likes of Jason Wilcox following United's 2-0 Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid.

That volatility could ultimately be the beginning of the end for an already under fire Carrick, who will need to win the trust of his players should he have any hopes of remaining in his current role. If not, United have a long list of head coaches who they could look to bring in as a successor, including Howe, Conte and Julian Nagelsmann among others.

And now, unnamed sources close to certain current managerial candidates have claimed to know the extent of the troubles within the first team. One told the Telegraph: "It’s clear they need order and discipline. The dressing room is out of control and that is the first thing to fix."

Another, meanwhile, claimed: "The players talk too much. United is one of the biggest clubs in the world and that has to be respected."
