Tottenham academy graduate Dane Scarlett has not had the easiest of starts to life at Leyton Orient since sealing a permanent exit from Spurs in the summer.

Scarlett joined Spurs’ youth academy back in 2010, aged just six, and the striker spent 16 years at the North London club.

While the centre-forward was deemed to be a very promising prospect at one time, making his first-team debut at 16 and 247 days, he failed to develop the way he was expected to over the last few years.

After a few disappointing loan spells in the EFL, Scarlett remained at Tottenham for the first half of last campaign, making five appearances under Thomas Frank.

Tottenham Hotspur finally decided to part ways with the centre-forward at the end of the season following an unsuccessful spell at Hibernian, with the striker sealing a permanent switch to the O’s in the final days of the summer window.

The centre-forward has not been a regular for the League One side since his summer switch, and is still fighting to earn the number nine shirt.

In fact, he has only started one league game for Orient this season, having played 159 minutes across five matches, with FotMob giving him an average performance rating of 6.21 across those five appearances.

Scarlett came on as a 63rd-minute substitute yesterday for Orient, and he stepped up to convert a spot-kick 13 minutes later as the O’s emerged with a 2-0 win over Blackpool at home.

It was the striker’s first goal of the season, and his best performance of the campaign so far, with the display earning a FotMob rating of 7.4

Spurs loanee is thriving at Orient

Scarlett has a familiar face playing alongside him in attack at Orient, with Spurs academy winger Yusuf Akhamrich currently on a season-long loan at the club.

Akhamrich caught the eye of Spurs fans during his spell at Bristol Rovers in the second half of last season, and he has carried on that impressive form since his move to Brisbane Road.

The 21-year-old has three goals and three assists in 10 League One games this term, and the Spurs youngster has already become a fan favourite among Orient supporters.
