The glittering world of the Melbourne Cup Carnival is shaping up to be an uncomfortable social minefield for AFL superstar Lachie Neale, with both his new girlfriend Emma Field and estranged ex-wife Jules set to make high-profile appearances at Flemington within days of each other.

While Lachie and Emma prepare for their highly anticipated Birdcage debut as a couple on Derby Day, Jules is also poised to step into the spotlight at the races.

Former WAG Jules, 36, revealed plans to attend the Melbourne Cup in last week's edition of industry newsletter Social Diary, where she was also seeking brand partnerships for the occasion.

Even if the trio avoid coming face-to-face, their appearances at Australia's most glamorous racing carnival are certain to attract attention - particularly after Emma's headline-grabbing outing at this year's AFL Grand Final drew inevitable comparisons with Lachie's appearance at the same event a year earlier alongside Jules and his then-mistress, Tess Crosley.

And with both women stepping out on one of the biggest stages of the spring social calendar, comparisons between Jules and Emma, from their trackside fashion to their presence in Flemington's exclusive social circles, will be almost impossible to avoid.

Lachie, 33, and Emma are set to attend Flemington as guests of the G.H. Mumm marquee, marking their first joint appearance at the Melbourne Cup Carnival. 

The pair have been dating for around six months, with Emma supporting the dual Brownlow Medallist at Brisbane Lions matches since July.

She will be styled by celebrity stylist Paul Versace for the occasion. 

Their appearance comes after Lachie's marriage to Jules spectacularly unravelled late last year, following allegations of an affair involving her former best friend Tess Crosley.

Jules has since returned to Perth with the former couple's two young children, while Lachie has moved on with Emma and recently signed a three-year deal with Collingwood after eight seasons at Brisbane.

The footballer has publicly apologised for letting down his family, while Jules has spoken candidly about the devastation of discovering the alleged betrayal.

In August, she revealed on the Pretty Sure podcast that she had learned about Lachie's new relationship through media reports, rather than directly from her former husband.

'A heads-up would’ve been nice, but no, I found out in the media like everybody else did,' she said.

Jules also described the alleged affair with her former close friend as an ongoing four-month relationship that had taken place behind her back. 

Since the split, both Lachie and Jules have made high-profile appearances on the social circuit, with Emma increasingly stepping into the spotlight alongside her new partner.

Emma was among the Brisbane Lions supporters cheering on Lachie at September's AFL Grand Final, wearing a personalised 'NEALE 9' jacket, while Jules made her own feelings about the match clear by posing in a Fremantle Dockers scarf.

In October, Emma accompanied Lachie to the annual Club Champion dinner at The Star Brisbane.

The brunette put on quite the racy display as she attended the dinner, placing a hand on Lachie's thigh as she wore a very low-cut minidress. 

Meanwhile, Lachie's pet name for Emma was revealed when she shared a series of photos to social media showing the couple spending time together. 

Emma captioned the gallery with some telling words: 'A very fun couple of weeks.'

Lachie was quick to share his appreciation in the comments, revealing his pet name for his new partner: 'Effy x.'
