Abdellah Ouazane’s latest stunner keeps Ajax in Eredivisie title chase

Abdellah Ouazane continued his impressive run of form by scoring another spectacular goal as Ajax defeated Sparta Rotterdam 2-1 in the Eredivisie on Sunday, 25 October.

The 17-year-old Morocco international opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, producing a moment of individual quality to put Ajax in control during the 10th round of the season.

Ouazane had already attracted attention after scoring in the Conference League on Thursday, but his latest contribution underlined his growing influence in the Ajax first team.

The Amsterdam club extended their lead in first-half stoppage time when Tolu Arokodarene made it 2-0 in the 45th minute plus one. Sparta Rotterdam pulled a goal back, but Ajax held on to secure all three points.

The victory keeps Ajax in touch with Feyenoord near the top of the Eredivisie standings.

Ouazane’s goal was the most eye-catching moment of the match. After exchanging passes with a team-mate, the attacking midfielder created space before sending a precise shot into the left-hand corner of the Sparta goalkeeper’s net.

It was another example of the technique and composure that have marked his recent performances. His previous goal against Atalanta was also notable, with the Morocco international beating several opponents inside the penalty area before finishing with a powerful strike.

At only 17, Ouazane is increasingly being regarded as one of the young players to watch in European football. His performances have come as he continues his development with Ajax.

The midfielder is valued at 8 million euros by Transfermarkt and remains under contract with Ajax until June 2028. His recent displays are likely to increase expectations surrounding his progress, although he is still in the early stages of his career in the Netherlands.
