Morocco’s latest generation is making a significant impact across European football at the start of the 2026/27 season, with five players attracting growing interest from leading clubs.
Their performances in domestic leagues and international competition have strengthened their reputations and increased the possibility of moves during the upcoming transfer windows. Africafoot has assessed the situations of Yassir Zabiri, Abdellah Ouazane, Abde Ezzalzouli, Gessime Yassine and Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal.
Yassir Zabiri has emerged as one of the standout players in La Liga while on loan at Racing Santander from Rennes. The 21-year-old, whose loan runs until June 2027, has scored eight goals in 10 league games.
His tally includes a hat-trick against Elche in August, two goals against Alaves in September and a further strike against Espanyol. Zabiri was named La Liga’s best under-23 player for September.
The loan agreement does not include an option to buy, and Rennes cannot recall him before it expires. His release clause is reportedly more than 20 million euros, while Racing Santander are already looking into a possible permanent deal, according to exclusive information reported by Africafoot.
However, the Spanish club faces strong competition, particularly from England, according to the same reports.
Ajax midfielder Abdellah Ouazane made his first-team debut at the age of 17 on 16 August, scoring on the opening day of the Eredivisie season.
He has since made 10 league appearances, including three starts, and has played 378 minutes. Ouazane recently scored his second Eredivisie goal against Sparta.
The Morocco international, who is contracted to Ajax until June 2028, has become a focus of attention ahead of the transfer window. Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Juventus are all monitoring the attacking midfielder, although no negotiations have begun.
Abde Ezzalzouli has started six of Real Betis’ first seven La Liga matches this season and has scored three goals in 514 minutes.
The 24-year-old left winger also scored his first Champions League goal against Porto in a 3-2 win, finding the net with a curling effort before being named player of the match.
Real Betis, who have Ezzalzouli under contract until June 2029, are reportedly seeking between 50 million euros and 60 million euros. The Andalusian club would only consider a departure for a major offer.
Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona are currently the main clubs showing interest in the Morocco international ahead of the winter transfer window.
Gessime Yassine has made an important step forward since joining Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg. The 20-year-old winger has established himself in the club’s attacking system after arriving from Dunkerque in January.
Under contract with Strasbourg until 2030, Yassine has started eight Ligue 1 matches this season, totalling 677 minutes, and has contributed two goals and two assists.
Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for him in January or next summer. Brighton, Newcastle, Sunderland, Brentford, Everton and Nottingham Forest are also said to be competing for his signature.
Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, a graduate of the Mohammed VI Academy who joined Rennes in July 2024, is becoming an increasingly important defender in Ligue 1.
The 20-year-old has started six matches this season, four of them in the league, and scored his first Europa League goal in the victory over OFI.
Ait Boudlal is reportedly close to agreeing a contract extension, despite his current deal running until June 2028. No agreement has yet been signed, while several leading European clubs are continuing to follow the situation closely.
