Enzo Maresca has become the first manager in Premier League history to win his first seven league games in charge of a club after guiding Manchester City to a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday.
City maintained their perfect league record at the Etihad Stadium, with Erling Haaland scoring twice and Phil Foden also finding the net to secure the win.
The Italian had equalled the previous record of six consecutive wins following City’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield last weekend. He has now surpassed the previous benchmark shared by Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Maresca’s seven victories have taken City to 21 points from a possible 21, keeping them at the top of the Premier League table. However, the win over Ipswich was not without difficulty, as the visitors scored twice to keep the contest close until the final whistle.
The record marks a significant start to Maresca’s tenure at City, where he was appointed in June 2026 following Pep Guardiola’s departure after 10 years at the club.
