Bloemfontein club Siwelele ended a seven-match winless run since the Premiership kicked off by snatching a dramatic 1-0 victory over Polokwane City on Sunday.
Ivorian striker Michel N'Guessan came off the bench after 87 minutes and three minutes later scored the only goal.
Siwelele captain and man-of-the-match award winner Tebogo Potsane passed to N'Guessan inside the area, and his low shot flew into the far corner of the net.
Despite winning, Siwelele remain third-from-last in the 16-club championship with six points from eight matches. Bottom club Marumo Gallants have two points, and Richards Bay three.
"We dedicate this victory to our long-suffering supporters," said caretaker coach Godfrey Mosoetsa, who replaced sacked Lehlohonolo Seema after five rounds.
"All that mattered today was securing the three points. Absolutely nothing else. We had to win at all costs."
Siwelele debuted in the richest African national league last season and finished 10th, 13 points above the relegation zone.
On Saturday, promoted Milford climbed to fourth, eight points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, after a 1-0 win at Golden Arrows. Siphosethu Ndlabi scored the match-winner on 71 minutes.
