Reactions from around the world have been pouring in after Tottenham legend Harry Kane was crowned the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner, and fellow Spurs legend Heung-min Son has now sent his former teammate a message.
Everyone associated with Tottenham, including Roberto De Zerbi, has backed Kane in his bid to win the Ballon d’Or, and Spurs fans were delighted when the club legend was crowned the best player in the world in a ceremony held in London on Monday.
Kane thanked his boyhood club in his acceptance speech, admitting that he would not have made it where he did if not for the Lilywhites.
He said: “I want to say thank you to Tottenham Hotspur as well. I would not be where I am today without Tottenham. You allowed me to live my dream.”
Many of the striker’s former Spurs teammates have been congratulating him on being crowned the best in the world.
The latest to do so is Kane’s best friend in football and a man who formed the most lethal strike partnership in Premier League history with the England captain: Heung-min Son.
The South Korean took to social media to say that the 33-year-old was fully deserving of the honour. Son wrote on Instagram: “Deserved more than anyone! Huge congratulations, my partner.” along with a heart emoji.

Kane came in for plenty of criticism for staying at Tottenham for as long as he did and for being too loyal to Spurs.
When he eventually made the decision to leave his boyhood club for Bayern Munich rather than another Premier League side, many pundits once again questioned that decision.
The Ballon d’Or win undoubtedly vindicates the decisions that Kane has made in his career, and the amount of support he has got from Spurs fans demonstrated just how well the striker conducted himself during his time in North London.
Kane has now strengthened his claim to go down as the greatest English footballer of all time, and no one would be able to contest that if he can win the Champions League with Bayern or a major trophy with England.
