AC Milan are preparing a summer transfer approach for Manchester United defender Leny Yoro as they look to strengthen their defence for the long term.
According to Calciomercato, the 20-year-old Franco-Ivorian is one of the leading targets identified by the Italian club. Milan could be required to pay between 40 and 50 million euros to secure his services.
Yoro’s previous relationship with Ruben Amorim could play a part in any potential move. The defender worked with the Portuguese manager at Manchester United, and Amorim is understood to value his technical ability and potential.
Milan may also hope Jorge Mendes, Yoro’s agent, can help facilitate negotiations between the clubs.
Yoro joined Manchester United from LOSC in 2024 in a deal worth about 62 million euros. However, he has yet to establish himself as an undisputed regular at Old Trafford.
His limited playing time this season has prompted speculation about his future, despite his long-term contract. Yoro’s market value is estimated at 45 million euros by Transfermarkt, while his annual salary in England is reported to be 7,090,771 euros (4,609,001,150 FCFA).
Manchester United remain in a strong negotiating position because Yoro’s contract runs until 2029 and includes the option of a further year.
Any transfer would therefore depend on the plans of Manchester United’s hierarchy, as well as the player’s willingness to continue his development elsewhere. For Milan, signing Yoro would represent a major investment in a long-term defensive project.
Manchester United are due to play Bournemouth in their eighth Premier League match soon.
