Devinci last updated the Wilson in 2021, and it was the Canadian brand's flagship DH bike, which still has a strong cult following today. The iconic swingarm and split-pivot design, with that wavy downtube, are hard to miss. Devinci hasn't discontinued the Wilson, but the Chainsaw DH, Devinci's high-pivot park/DH bike, has somewhat taken center stage as the longer-travel offering. That may change, though, and the proudly Canadian-made brand is teasing something new coming in the spring of 2027.
I woke up this morning to Devinci teasing what looks to be a new downhill bike. Something with a dual-crown fork, a horizontally mounted shock, and 40 years of learning behind it, or at least that's what the website says. Whatever it is, we'll have to wait until next spring to know for sure. For now, all we have is this video and some poetic verses from the brand.
"FOR FORTY YEARS, WE'VE LEARNED THE HARD WAY.
OUR WAY.
IN OUR FACTORY.
ON THE TOUGHEST TRACKS.
IN THE HARSHEST CONDITIONS.
AND AT FULL SPEED.
WE'VE DESIGNED, WELDED, TESTED, BROKEN, AND STARTED OVER MORE TIMES THAN WE CAN COUNT.
NOT TO RELIVE THE PAST.
TO BUILD WHAT COMES NEXT.
EVERYTHING FORTY YEARS OF PASSION HAVE LED US TO.
SOMETHING HAS TAKEN SHAPE UNDER OUR ROOF IN CHICOUTIMI, QUEBEC.
BORN FROM FORTY YEARS OF CANADIAN MANUFACTURING.
SHAPED BY RIDERS PAST AND PRESENT.
BUILT FOR DOWNHILL.
MADE TO BE PUSHED HARDER THAN ANYTHING BEFORE IT.
WE'RE NOT QUITE READY TO SHOW YOU EVERYTHING YET.
BUT YOU'LL KNOW WHAT IT IS WHEN YOU SEE IT.
40 YEARS ISN'T THE STORY. WHAT WE BUILT FROM THEM IS."
Downhill racing and freeride are having a moment right this year, and many brands are releasing new and updated flagship DH chassis. This is interesting to me, considering most people who ride aren't in the market for a DH bike, at least not in my circle. They're not very versatile, and they don't make much sense if you don't live somewhere with immediate shuttle or bike park access, but here we are.
