U-17 FWWC: Argentine Alvarez to decide Nigeria’s, Puerto Rico’s  fate

Argentine official Adriana Alvarez will take centre stage this  evening  for  Nigeria’s crucial FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Group B encounter against  Puerto Rico at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat.

This will be Alvarez ‘s very first official assignment as a head referee at  the on-going 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Her most recent international matches prior to this tournament were during the South American U-20 Women’s Championship earlier this year.

Alvarez will lead an all-South American officiating team alongside Assistant Referee 1 Daiana Milone, with kick-off scheduled for 7:00pm Nigeria time.

Following a disappointing defeat against Poland in their last group outing, Flamingos found themselves  under immense pressure to react.

Nothing short of a decisive victory against Puerto Rico will keep Nigeria’s campaign on track. A win is essential if the Flamingoes hope to navigate their way out of Group B and launch a deep run into the knockout stages of the tournament.

The Flamingos’ final Group B match  will be against former  champions , North Korea  on October 23rd.
