Spanish media says the same thing about Liverpool as 'dazzling' star singled out

Spanish media shared the same sentiment after Liverpool's notable 4-3 win over Villarreal, highlighting some of the club's stars as the Reds fought back from an early 2-0 deficit

Liverpool's impressive come-from-behind win over Villarreal led Spanish media to share the same sentiment about the club.

That's despite finding themselves trailing 2-0 within 35 minutes of the match starting, thanks to strikes from Georges Mikautadze and Sergi Cardona. From that point, Liverpool scored four goals, with Alexis Mac Allister netting a brace, to escape with a win to send the fans at Anfield home happy.

After almost upsetting the Reds at home, various Spanish outlets shared an equally impressed view as they watched what could have been a statement win turn into a missed opportunity.

Fernando Alvarez, a writer for Marca, noted that Liverpool played with an "overwhelming attacking force" and that the Reds are "the best example of a team determined to continue honing its competitive edge." He also noted that to begin the second half, Liverpool played with a "direct style of play that was almost impossible to counter."

Rio Ngumoha, the Reds' 18-year-old star, was called "dominant" by AS's Julian Burgos, complimenting the youngster on his "dazzling runs." Burgos went as far as to say that the pressure Ngumoha applied on Villarreal's defense "turned the game around and practically sealed the victory."

He added that Ngumoha was a blur, "whizzing past opponents like they were holograms," showing just how in control the teenager was despite the gravity of the situation.

Mundo Deportivo's Pablo Planas noted that Liverpool's early mistakes could have doomed them, but instead saw the Reds come together in the end.

Planas also applauded the decision to bring Florian Wirtz into the match, with Ryan Gravenberch moving to the right wing, giving the club "control in midfield and absolute dominance."

By and large, it was thought that Liverpool played with unmatched vigor, and Andoni Iraola played his cards correctly to come away with a remarkable win when the side looked out of sorts.

Despite Liverpool's impressive play following the first 35 minutes, star Virgil van Dijk admitted that the start of the match could have been smoother for the Reds. "It was a terrible start," the captain said after the fact.

"I think the saying is you fight an uphill battle, and as a defender it is pretty difficult to come back from it. I tried but it was a bad day at the office personally but we do it together with 11 players.

"Fortunately, it didn't happen too many times in my Liverpool career, but I was not the best. But we won and it's not about me, it's all about us."

With Mohamed Salah in Turkey, van Dijk noted that the club's veterans have banded together to help Ngumoha, a move that seemingly paid dividends against Villarreal.

"I think Rio has shown it this season, but there is still much more to come. He's pretty electric at times, and he showed it again on Tuesday. He was a complete threat constantly, and their defender had a tough time," he concluded.
