J.J. McCarthy shared a moment with his wife prior to his first real crack with the Giants.
Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Saints at MetLife Stadium, McCarthy shared a kiss and hug with his wife Katya on the sidelines.
Katya, who dressed in jeans and a Giants sweatshirt paired with sunglasses, could be seen smiling for McCarthy in a video of the moment that she shared on an Instagram story.
“Love you❤️🔥❤️🔥,” she wrote over the video.
The couple, whom got married in April this year, had some early challenges this NFL season when McCarthy was traded to the Giants from the Vikings in September.
After Jaxson Dart underwent knee surgery for meniscus tear, MCL tear and PCL damage, the Giants turned their attention to backup Jameis Winston but also looked outside of their camp for help.
McCarthy, 23, was acquired in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.
The second-year quarterback had a rough rookie season in Minnesota, throwing for 1,632 yards for 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The opening in New York has given McCarthy a chance to prove himself in a new space.
While the Giants ultimately lost to the Saints, 34-27, McCarthy nearly orchastrated a comeback in what was a strong fourth quarter from the Michigan product.
Yet, his final pass fell incomplete to end Big Blue’s hopes.
He led three scoring drives and finished the game with the second-most fourth-quarter passing yards (243) by a non-starter over the past 25 seasons, per ESPN.
Katya has supported McCarthy through this transition and much of his career, as the couple has been together since high school at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Ill.
Shortly after winning a national championship with Michigan, McCarthy proposed to Katya on a beach in January 2024.
The two later welcomed their first child, son Rome Micah, in September 2025 before tying the knot in San José del Cabo, Mexico his year.
Despite the loss, it seems the McCarthys are taking advantage of their new home as Katya posted photos from the highly popular restaurant, The Corner Store, later on Sunday.
Katya also seemed to spend part of the game at home, as she later shared a video of her with Rome, who was watching the Giants game from home.
“Time to get back to my baby tho,” she wrote. “Cheering on dada.”
The Giants travel to Houston in Week 7 before their bye week.
