Nottingham Forest lost 1-0 to Arsenal, and Ian Wright admitted his surprise at something Chris Wood did.
Oliver Glasner has once again been left with more questions than answers. His team created a few good chances against the reigning champions, but it’s now four Premier League home games without scoring a goal this season.
Liam Delap was praised by Glasner for his efforts against the Gunners. He tormented central defenders Gabriel and Ezri Konsa, with the Forest talisman close to winning it for the Reds at the end.
Wright had some critique for Wood, however, suggesting he fluffed the game’s biggest chance from a Forest perspective.
Wood scored 20 goals two seasons ago, but on this evidence he looks like a striker struggling for confidence and one who is coming to the end of his time playing in England.
Wood took far too long when being given a golden chance following an assist from Callum Hudson-Odoi but fluffed his lines, taking far too long.
Wright told Sky Sports: “The Chris Wood one, the more I see it, for a player at this level, a player who has scored goals at this level, it’s very, very surprising.
“To think he’s cut back against a defence like Arsenal and think he’s going to get a shot off, against Arsenal, it’s not going to happen.
“You have to recognise that and do that in training, you’re not going to get that opportunity against Arsenal. You’ve got to take that shot as soon as you can.”
"They're not half-chances, these are players taking too long"

Wood will be the backup for Delap – or the player who will come on and allow Forest to go with two strikers – until January at the very earliest.
The fact remains, however, that Forest have to get better attackers into their squad, with Wood looking a patch of his former self so far this season.
