Here are the five stars from Notre Dame's heartbreaking loss to BYU

Notre Dame loses a tough one to BYU. These are the five stars.

It's tough to give out stars after a loss, but the No. Notre Dame Fighting Irish did have five players worthy of it, even after dropping to No. 8 BYU 28-24.

Let's take a look while hoping this nightmare of a Saturday night doesn't hurt the Fighting Irish's playoff chances.

You might even see a name or two that you normally don't.

Without further adieu, here are tonight's five stars.

5 ⭐️ - Jaden Greathouse

Greathouse had eight catches for 125 yards, including what a 38-yarder that kept a potential game-winning drive alive. He appears to be back after being way too quiet as a potential weapon for a very long stretch.

4 ⭐️ - Jordan Faison

Faison had a workman-like six catches for 64 yards.

3 ⭐️ - Spencer Porath

While touchdowns would've been preferable, Porath's leg helped Irish chip away at BYU's 11-point halftime lead. He put Notre Dame in position to get a lead late. Kicking while facing such a hostile crowd could not have been easy.

2 ⭐️ - Bubba Frazier

Wide receiver Bubba Frazier during a Notre Dame football practice at Irish Athletic Center on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, in South Bend.

It didn't lead to a touchdown, only a field goal, but Frazier's recovery of a fumbled punt was huge nonetheless.

1 ⭐️ - Jonaz Walton

Notre Dame running back Jonaz Walton (20) celebrates after scoring a touchdown during a NCAA football game against Stanford at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, in South Bend.

He had what might've been the game-winning touchdown and a two-point conversion, though his overall numbers looked light, with just 17 yards. That's because he only had five carries. Nolan James Jr. had an OK day with 77 yards on 16 carries, but fans will be clamoring for Walton to start, we bet.

A five-stars honorable mention goes out to the Notre Dame fans who were clearly heard chanting "Let's Go Irish!" on the ABC broadcast. A nice effort in an hostile environment.
