Egypt’s under-16 girls’ handball team meets Argentina at 7:15 p.m. Cairo time on Tuesday in Morocco, closing out the preliminary round of the 16-team World Championship under technical director Qassem Ibrahim, Youm7 reported.
The young Egyptian squad enters the final group-stage fixture holding third place in Group D with two points, according to Youm7. The team opened the international tournament in Morocco with a 41-29 defeat against Russia before rebounding for a narrow 29-28 victory over Switzerland in the second round.
To secure a path into the quarter-finals, Egypt must defeat Argentina in Tuesday’s evening fixture. Group D also features Switzerland, Argentina, and Russia, setting up a competitive fight for the advancing knockout slots.
Head coach Qassem Ibrahim commands an under-16 age group roster distributed across specialized court positions. The goalkeeping department features Maryam Ahmed, Omnia Mostafa, and Nourhan Ashraf. On the left wing, the squad deploys Farida Belal and Rimas Essawy, while Salma Ibrahim, Maryam Salah, and Rodina Hamdoun operate at left back.
Playmaking duties rest with Haya Sayed and Roraya Ibrahim. Jana Ali and Salma Ahmed cover the right wing, supported by right backs Sama Dia, Farah Adly, and Sedra Mohamed. Rounding out the formation on the line are Jana Hani, Maryam Ammar, and Rowina Maged.
Following the hard-fought one-goal win over Switzerland, Egyptian Handball Federation President Khaled Fathy reached out directly to Mohamed Gamal Helal, the federation’s treasurer and head of the delegation in Morocco, to congratulate the players. Fathy praised the team’s fighting spirit and dedication throughout the match, alongside the technical staff’s performance, Youm7 reported.
