RSC Anderlecht goalkeeper Colin Coosemans has addressed speculation surrounding his long-term future at the club, admitting that while an international transfer has long been on his wish list, any move away from the Lotto Park requires a total package that satisfies both parties.
Anderlecht faces an important sequence of three matches across domestic and European competitions, starting with a fixture against Beerschot VA. The schedule continues with a clash against Jagiellonia Bialystok before concluding with a meeting against AA Gent. Head coach David Hubert will rely heavily on Coosemans between the posts as the team navigates this demanding stretch of the season.
Coosemans joined Anderlecht on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 after departing AA Gent, initially arriving as the third-choice goalkeeper with minimal playing time expected. His career path previously included stints in the youth academy of Club Brugge, where he reached the first team, followed by spells at Waasland-Beveren and KV Mechelen. Following the departure of Kasper Schmeichel, Coosemans seized his opportunity during the audition phase for a new number one. His strong performances convinced club management to halt their search for an external replacement, establishing him as the undisputed starter. In January, he was voted Goalkeeper of the Year in Belgium, earning a contract extension in the spring that ties him to the Brussels club until mid-2028.
Despite interest and a long-standing personal desire to experience a foreign adventure, Coosemans insists that a transfer is not currently on the agenda. Speaking to De Zondag, the goalkeeper emphasized his deep bond with the club and the patience required to reach this stage of his career. “During those difficult years, I kept dreaming of the day I could wear the shirt of Anderlecht,” Coosemans said. “Now that that dream has come true, the total picture must be right before I even consider leaving.”
