Real Sociedad 2-1 Barça Femení: Defeat in Zubieta
Real Sociedad 2-1 Barça Femení: Defeat in Zubieta

The Barça women's team dropped their first points of the season at Zubeita, going down to a 2-1 defeat against Real Sociedad despite taking the lead in the first minute of the contest. The game was always going to be a tough test after the loss in the same fixture last season and with the match coming on the back of an international break.

Great start but home side strike back

The contest could not have started better for the blaugranes as they went ahead in the first minute of the game. Patri Guijarro gave Pere Romeu's team the lead with a well taken effort from the edge of the box. However, the game was never going to be an easy one and so it proved when la Real struck back on 14 minutes, Cecilia Marcos scoring a great goal to make it 1-1.

The first half continued with both sides playing to their strengths, Barça looking for space through possession and the home side looking to counter quickly. Just when it seemed the teams would end the half all square, Ainhoa Marín got in behind the blaugrana defence to beat Cata Coll and make it 2-1 to Real Sociedad at half time.

First points dropped

In the second half coach Romeu brought on Aïcha, Sydney and Kerolin down the right. With the still team still 2-1 down Caroline Graham Hansen and Kika entered the fray and Barça thought they had a penalty when Brugts was brought down, only for VAR to overturn the decision.

There was still time for Pajor to go ever so close to an equaliser but it was not to be for the blaugranes as they went down to their first defeat of the season.
