Milan hold off Atalanta comeback to extend Amorims unbeaten run

AC Milan made it three consecutive Serie A home victories for the first time in 2026 after surviving a late Atalanta surge to win 3-2 at San Siro.

Ruben Amorim’s side extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to four matches, having entered the game with two wins and a draw from their previous three fixtures. The result also gave Milan their first league victory over Atalanta in seven meetings.

The hosts controlled the early stages and appeared to take the lead in the 13th minute, but Christian Pulisic’s close-range finish was ruled out for a narrow offside.

Atalanta then came close to breaking the deadlock themselves. Nikola Krstovic went around Mike Maignan but could only shoot into the side-netting.

Milan were awarded a penalty in the 24th minute when Yunus Musah’s effort struck the hand of substitute Relja Obric. Goncalo Ramos took responsibility and sent Marco Carnesecchi the wrong way to score his second league goal of the season.

Atalanta, who had lost their previous two Serie A away games, tried to respond before half-time. Instead, Milan doubled their lead just before the interval.

Diego Moreira found Adrien Rabiot inside the penalty area, and the French midfielder moved past one defender before placing a composed finish into the bottom corner.

Milan continued to threaten after the restart, with Samuel Chukwueze curling narrowly wide. Krstovic was unable to find the target at the other end after being presented with a difficult opportunity.

The home side won another penalty in the 56th minute after a handball by Thomas Kristensen. This time, however, Carnesecchi kept Atalanta in the contest by saving Ramos’ effort from the spot.

That reprieve lasted only a minute. Rabiot produced a clever flick-on at the back post, where Mario Gila arrived to head Milan’s third goal into the net.

Atalanta reduced the deficit through Gianluca Gaetano, whose excellent touch created the opening for a calm finish inside the box. The goal set up a tense final 20 minutes at San Siro.

The pressure on Milan increased further with nine minutes remaining. Raoul Bellanova’s cutback reached Krstovic, who swept the ball clinically into the bottom corner to make it 3-2.

Atalanta almost completed the comeback two minutes later, but Maignan preserved Milan’s lead by denying substitute Davide Zappacosta.

The visitors continued to press through stoppage time, yet Milan held on to secure a third successive home league win and maintain Amorim’s unbeaten start.

Adrien Rabiot was named Flashscore’s Man of the Match.
