Amarius Mims has a shoe problem. Are the Bengals going to fix it during the bye week?
For those who missed it, a fun sidebar as the Cincinnati Bengals sit on bye week: Amarius Mims keeps breaking his cleats.
Mims missed snaps a few weeks back when his size 16 Nike Zoom Code Elites fell apart. And before the bye, during the game in Miami, he missed another three plays when yet another cleat fell apart.
This topic around Mims has been a funny one during the bye week.
"I've got to think he might be able to work some type of shoe deal out of this thing," offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. "It's never fun when somebody comes over the headset and says his shoe broke again, and you're just praying to God that Sam Staley or whoever the hell was running to get the shoe runs fast." …
Of course, it’s no laughing matter when Mims needs to leave the field for equipment reasons and it’s a backup blocking for Joe Burrow.
That’s especially the case when Mims happens to be on an All-Pro trajectory this year, fully breaking out and living up to the hype. Whatever the Bengals need to do to help the 6’7”, 340-pound star stay on the field, they will surely look into now that this has happened twice over five games.
