It has been 12 years since The Great Khali left the WWE behind in 2014, and the 'Punjabi Playboy' now lives a very different life, making a fortune in a career far removed from the rough and tumble of the ring.

The last update many wrestling fans would have gotten from Khali, whose real name is Dalip Singh Rana, was his struggles with walking, as his career in the industry left him with chronic knee and leg mobility issues exacerbated by his towering 7-foot-1, 350-plus-pound frame.

But the 54-year-old is doing a lot of exciting things back in his home country of India these days, which extends well beyond the entertainment business and into a lot of interesting ventures.

The Great Khali's Staggering Fortune in New Career

The Great Khali is one of the most recognisable faces in India, and he revealed in a recent interview with SEscoops that he has been able to use that popularity to his advantage, even after retirement.

Although he didn't speak much, Khali remains a fan favourite and has been featured in popular commercials such as KFC and Ambuja Cement. The giant has also appeared on prominent Indian TV shows such as Big Boss and The Kapil Sharma Show. On his newfound riches, he said:

"I have some commandment, then I deliver this thing. You know, I have almost 200 commercials. So I make more money now than I made in WWE. I do so many commercials. Every week I shoot a commercial."

Khali gained attention for his imposing stature and was prominently featured in WWE storylines throughout the mid-2000s to early 2010s. His greatest matches include facing Batista in a Punjabi Prison match at No Mercy, 2007, as well as his dominant WWE pay-per-view in-ring debut where he cleanly pinned The Undertaker at Judgement Day, 2006.

After retiring from the ring - barring a handful of non-permanent returns since - the Punjabi Playboy also started his own wrestling school promotion business in India, according to The Times of India. It is called Continental Wrestling Entertainment.

He has appeared in Hollywood films like The Longest Yard and Get Smart , as well as Bollywood projects and reality television shows, and his net worth still stands at £4.5 million to £6 million.

Khali Lives Completely Different Life Besides Wrestling Interests

Given his fortunes, Khali is afforded a lifestyle that lends itself to a wide array of interests. He maintains a massive social media presence (with 11.8 million followers on Instagram) where he shares comedic and lifestyle content.

He practices daily meditation, maintains a strict vegetarian lifestyle, and abstains from alcohol and tobacco. He also remains a devout Hindu, and has publicly participated in major spiritual gatherings, such as taking a sacred dip during the Maha Kumbh, and frequently speaks out in defence of Hindu traditions and spiritual leaders.

As for his family life, Rana married Harminder Kaur in 2002. The couple has two children: a daughter, born in February 2014, and a son, born in November 2023.
