Legendary former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has put two Red Devils stars on blast this week as the club descends further into chaos following their 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The defeat leaves Michael Carrick's side winless in five, with their 2026/27 campaign seeing them win just two of their opening nine fixtures as they languish 13th in the Premier League. However, an explosive interview from Lisandro Martinez has since stolen the spotlight.

The centre-back went nuclear in his post-match press conference, taking aim at the club's hierarchy over their ongoing struggles and pointing to an alleged lack of investment and direction from technical director Jason Wilcox.

Martinez has since apologised for his pointed remarks, but that hasn't stopped Keano from wagging his finger at two of the Argentine's teammates in the wake of the public uproar, which piled further pressure on a United side struggling both on and off the pitch.

The aforementioned Martinez comments reportedly sparked a confrontation among unnamed players on the flight home from Spain on Tuesday night.

Now, Keane worries that there is no law and order in Carrick's dressing room, and has ripped into two players who are failing to uphold their duty to lead the squad towards the light at the end of a tunnel that has haunted them throughout the entirety of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

The former United skipper believes Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire should be doing more to set an example, yet has suggested they are too preoccupied and 'busy podcasting' to fulfil their responsibilities. Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Keane said:

"Bruno, Maguire... They're probably busy doing podcasts, I can't imagine them pulling him [Martinez]. Bruno's body language, he doesn't seem a happy lad at the moment. They're pulling nobody. This reflects where Manchester United are and where this dressing room is. Maguire gets left out of the England squad - he's all upset with that. Instead of rolling his sleeves up during the summer, 'I'm going to go to New York and do a podcast for a few weeks.'

"That's his mindset. That's the mindset of a Man United player, I'm going to start doing these little gigs instead of getting Man United competing at the very top. So this idea, when I see a player have a little b**** the last few days, I'd be more annoyed at Maguire and Bruno for getting things off their chests on podcasts. You get your priorities in place as a footballer."

He added: "Back in our day, it was more magazines than podcasts, but if a player went off and said something, even silly, he'd come in the dressing room, and lads would say: 'What are you talking about?' You'd put him in his place in that sense - not a big bust-up.

"Man United is a circus. If you can, try and do your talking on the pitch. If you have to let off a bit of steam, ok, but try and do it on the back of some victories, or when you've won a league title or something like that.

"These players have done nothing for the last few years at Man United. Two years ago we were finishing 13th (15th) or whatever, getting knocked out by Grimsby, and they're coming up with all these comments."

While Martinez has faced criticsm mostly due to the public nature of his comments, Keano also wanted to focus on the fact the 28-year-old seemed to be proud of his club's achievements (or lack thereof) last season.

At the start of the podcast segment, the Irishman cut in as Gary Neville was reading out Martinez's statement in full and remarked:

"He actually thinks we had a fantastic season… When they came third? He should have been fined two weeks' wages just for saying that."

He also argued that Martinez is in no position to criticise the hierarchy, as he isn't considered a senior player and hasn't been doing his bit on the pitch.

"I don't see him as a senior player at Man United. I see him as a centre-half who's making lots of mistakes. He's had a little rant at international level. He's played 80 games for Man United. He's not been there eight, nine years. If you're making mistakes, you shut your mouth in the dressing room."
