Play quickly switches to the other end as Porto immediately mount a counter.
The Dragons break at speed and slide the ball into Pietuszewski, who drills a left-footed shot into the side netting.
First opening of the match, and predictably it’s PSV who create it.
Geertruida lofts a dangerous delivery into the box and an unmarked Perisic ghosts in behind, but his looping header flies well over Costa and the bar!
The visitors have dictated the opening exchanges here in Porto as Til lofts a deep delivery to the back post for Perisic.
The 37-year-old produces an acrobatic leap to keep it alive, but it has already crossed the line.
Costa restarts with a goal kick.
Til lofts a deep delivery into the Porto penalty area, but it’s routine work for captain Costa, who authoritatively punches it clear.
Referee Daniel Siebert sounds his whistle and gets us underway!

Over in the visiting dugout, Bosz makes a pair of alterations to the PSV line-up that lost in Leipzig.
Gasiorowski steps back into the visitors’ defence to partner Geertruida, with Obispo dropping to the bench.
Ruben van Bommel misses tonight’s fixture with a muscle injury, meaning Bajraktarevic joins veteran Perisic and Mijnans in the attack, supported by Til, Sano and Mauro Junior.
Farioli rings the changes with five alterations following last week’s defeat to Betis.
A defensive reshuffle sees Alberto Costa, Sanusi and Bednarek come into the hosts’ backline alongside former Arsenal player Kiwior, while Samu Aghehowa and Pietuszewski take the places of Andre Silva and Sainz in the final third.
On the bench for PSV Eindhoven: Nick Olij, Tijn Smolenaars, Armando Obispo, Ryan Flamingo, Ayoni Santos, Noah Fernandez, Shuryjano Cornecion, Amir Bouhamdi, Dennis Man and Mikkel Bro.
On the bench for Porto: Claudio Ramos, Joao Costa, Francisco Moura, Martim Fernandes, Nehuen Perez, Souza, Alan Varela, In-Beom Hwang, Seko Fofana, Andre Silva, Borja Sainz and Santiago Gimenez.
PSV Eindhoven line up in a 4-3-3 formation: Matej Kovar; Filip Kostic, Yarek Gasiorowski, Lutsharel Geertruida, Sergino Dest; Mauro Junior, Kodai Sano, Ivan Perisic; Guus Til, Esmir Bajraktarevic, Sven Mijnans.
Porto line-up in a 4-3-3 formation: Diogo Costa; Zaidu Sanusi, Jakub Kiwior, Jan Bednarek, Alberto Costa; Gabri Veiga, Pablo Rosario, Victor Froholdt; Oskar Pietuszewski, Samu Aghehowa, Pepe.
PSV’s European campaign has been a struggle so far, featuring an opening draw with Shakhtar Donetsk followed by a 1-0 defeat to RB Leipzig via Brajan Gruda’s long-range strike.
Peter Bosz’s team currently occupy 26th place, sitting two spots outside the qualification places.
The visitors are winless across their last five Champions League games (D1 L4) and have gone 18 consecutive European fixtures without a clean sheet since a 4-0 victory against Girona in November 2024 — matching their worst ever run in the competition between November 1997 and October 2000.
Confidence could also be dented after a 2-1 weekend loss to Den Haag, a match where Sven Mijnans scored the opener before being sent off in the first half.
Can Bosz’s side conjure a response tonight?
Hosts Porto are still chasing a first Champions League win this term, having kicked off with defeat to Manchester City before throwing away a 2-1 lead against Real Betis at La Cartuja, where Isco’s late spot-kick condemned the Dragons to a 3-2 loss.
Francesco Farioli’s men currently occupy 30th spot in the table, though they might fancy their chances of getting off the mark this evening.
Since a 5-0 thrashing by PSV in their maiden meeting back in October 1988, Porto have put together a three-match unbeaten run against them (W2 D1), capped by a 1-0 victory in April 1993.
However, tonight brings an entirely new test.
Farioli’s side have been out of action since that 3-2 setback against Betis, yet a reassuring five-point cushion at the Liga Portugal summit will provide a timely confidence boost.
Can Porto finally pick up their first Champions League points of the season?
