Liverpool Told To Sell Alexander Isak For The Good Of The Club

Liverpool have been urged to cut their losses on Alexander Isak, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain suggested as potential destinations for the struggling £125 million striker.

Liverpool Told To Sell Alexander Isak For The Good Of The Club

Alexander Isak’s Liverpool career has reportedly been disrupted by persistent injuries, prompting calls for the club to consider selling the Swedish international.

Liverpool signed Isak from Newcastle United for a British-record £125 million last summer, but the forward has made only 29 appearances, scoring eight goals.

He has reportedly missed 36 games through injuries and endured several spells on the sidelines, including a serious leg fracture that required surgery in December.

Isak subsequently suffered further muscle problems and adductor pain before withdrawing from Sweden’s squad during the latest international break.

Barcelona And PSG Tipped As Possible Destinations

Speaking on Fiery Fridays, pundit Angelina Kelly argued that Isak needs to reconsider his career direction, warning that his injury problems could worsen under Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola, reports talkSPORT.

Kelly believes Iraola’s demanding, high-intensity playing style could prove unsuitable for the striker, particularly given his recent fitness struggles.

She suggested Barcelona could offer Isak opportunities through rotation, while PSG’s approach to managing playing time might also suit him.

Kelly added that Liverpool could potentially recover a similar fee to the amount they paid Newcastle, allowing the club to reinvest in other positions.

However, these are pundits’ recommendations rather than confirmed transfer plans, with no completed deal reported.

Isak Branded One Of Premier League’s Worst Signings

talkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham agreed that Liverpool may need to reconsider their recruitment strategy, describing Isak’s transfer as a major disappointment.

“He is pound-for-pound going to go down as one of the worst signings in Premier League history,” Durham said.

He clarified that his criticism was not about Isak’s ability, but the circumstances surrounding the transfer and the striker’s struggles with fitness.

Durham also called for Liverpool to consider selling Florian Wirtz as part of a wider squad rebuild, arguing that the club needs a significant rethink.

For now, Isak’s future remains uncertain, with his ability to stay fit likely to be crucial to his prospects at Anfield.
