Conte seeks transfer control as Manchester United considers managerial change

Antonio Conte would be prepared to take charge of Manchester United if the club agrees to give him significant control over recruitment and squad-building, according to Repubblica.

The Italian is regarded as one of the leading candidates to replace Michael Carrick, who is under pressure after Manchester United’s poor start to the season.

During negotiations on Wednesday evening, Conte is reported to have set out several conditions to the club’s hierarchy.

The former Napoli manager wants complete authority over transfer decisions, including the right to identify the players Manchester United should sign.

He is also seeking full freedom to shape the squad around his tactical plans and the ability to bring in any members of staff he considers necessary.

Conte has been without a managerial position since leaving Napoli at the end of last season.
