Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman was in action as Atlético Madrid secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruña at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Saturday.

Making his 10th La Liga appearance of the season for Diego Simeone’s side, Lookman delivered an energetic performance in the first half before being replaced by Robin Le Normand ahead of the second period.

Following a tightly contested and goalless opening 45 minutes, Atlético broke the deadlock just moments after the restart.

In the 48th minute, a sweeping team move down the right was switched over to the left flank, where Alejandro Grimaldo threaded a precise pass into Julián Álvarez, who finished expertly to put the hosts ahead.

Deportivo fought back bravely in search of an equalizer, testing Jan Oblak and creating late pressure, but Atlético’s disciplined backline held firm to preserve the clean sheet and claim all three points.
