Eighteen-year-old loanee Ayoub Ouarghi has reaffirmed his long-term ambition to break into the senior squad at Feyenoord, outlining his immediate goals during an interview with Voetbal International. Currently developing his game away from Rotterdam in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, the midfielder has established himself as a standout performer in the early stages of the Dutch second tier.

That form recently earned the teenager individual recognition when he collected a Bronze Shield as the best talent of the opening period in the division. Ouarghi recorded three goals and three assists during that productive stretch for FC Dordrecht, a stark contrast to his club’s current nineteenth-place standing in the league table.

Bronzen Shield Recognition Highlights Strong Personal Form

Despite FC Dordrecht enduring a difficult start to the campaign, Ouarghi’s individual performances have drawn widespread attention. The recognition for his early-season output brought him into friendly competition with former Feyenoord youth teammate Lars de Blok, who currently represents VVV-Venlo.

The transition to senior professional football required tactical adjustments for the youngster. While Feyenoord’s youth teams typically dominated possession, his current surroundings demand a different approach, as Ouarghi explained to Voetbal International.

During his time under coach Paul Nuijten at FC Dordrecht, Ouarghi has frequently featured as a left winger rather than his traditional central or attacking midfield role from his academy days in Rotterdam. Despite playing further wide, the loanee has managed to maintain an influential offensive presence.

The Long-Term Dream of Playing in De Kuip

Contracted to Feyenoord until mid-2028, Ouarghi views his current loan spell as a necessary stepping stone toward earning a regular spot in Rotterdam. He acknowledges the fierce competition for places within the club’s senior setup but remains determined to prove his readiness.

Feyenoord is mijn club.

Beyond his personal ambitions on the pitch, the teenager continues to follow his parent club closely from afar. He missed the recent European fixture against Como but plans to attend Feyenoord’s upcoming UEFA Champions League home match against Internazionale at De Kuip, describing the European nights in Rotterdam as an incredible experience.

Team Ambitions and the Unpredictable Keuken Kampioen Divisie

Addressing FC Dordrecht’s struggles near the bottom of the standings, Ouarghi expressed confidence that the youthful squad will find greater consistency as the season progresses. He highlighted the unique nature of the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, where narrow margins between clubs mean a brief winning run can rapidly lift a team into the promotion play-off positions.

In de Keuken Kampioen Divisie kun je één periode goed zijn en kans op promotie maken, Ouarghi stated to Voetbal International. Wij hebben nu tijd genoeg gehad om aan elkaar en aan de speelwijze te wennen.
