Andoni Iraola has hinted that he will make more changes for Liverpool's Carabao Cup tie against Chelsea at Anfield, with a Premier League clash against Arsenal coming up this weekend.

Liverpool has rotated its side regularly over the last few weeks in all competitions, with Iraola balancing a relentless schedule. And while progressing in the domestic cups is important, there are some key decisions to be made.

Speaking at his press conference on Tuesday, Iraola confirmed that Florian Wirtz is likely to be fit enough to play against Chelsea, though a call will have to be made on the playmaker's involvement.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz are not far away from a return, but Iraola was less sure that the pair would be able to feature for Liverpool.

Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike are long-term absentees, while Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni are targeting a return during the November international break.

For Chelsea, the injury-prone Reece James is sidelined once again with a knee injury, while Emiliano Martinez, who arrived from Aston Villa in the summer, is out because of the fractured jaw he sustained last week.

Pep Chavarria missed last weekend's defeat to Spurs, but Xabi Alonso said new Chelsea signing Emmanuel Emegha, who came in from Strasbourg, could make his debut at Anfield.

More importantly, Jamie Gittens is out for a few weeks and Cole Palmer is suspended after his red card.

No exact return date has been confirmed for Joao Pedro at this stage, but an injury kept him out of the home loss against Tottenham.

Liverpool and Chelsea could both do with a run in the cup competitions. Iraola and Alonso will hope to break their trophy duck at the earliest possible moment.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.

"I think every competition is an opportunity, especially when you are the coach of Liverpool — you have to take it like this," Iraola said.

"I would love to win tomorrow and have the chance to get further in the competition. But I know that we have to play very well, we have to beat a very good team.

"It's also a team that doesn't play in Europe, so for sure for them this competition is also very important. So, it's not going to be easy."

Liverpool has Arsenal on Sunday. It will also take on Fenerbahce and Crystal Palace before the next set of international fixtures.
