On October 10, 2025, Angel Reese quite literally manifested reaching the WNBA Finals on social media. The same day, the Las Vegas Aces won their third championship in four years. Back then, she was with the 10-34 Chicago Sky, but she still carried her champion mentality. A year later, she is just two wins away from winning her and the Atlanta Dream’s first WNBA championship. On that note, former NFL player Emmanuel Acho believes she could add another individual trophy to her cabinet.

“Angel Reese is two games from legendary status,” Acho posted on X, sharing a clip from the Speakeasy podcast of him saying the same. “If she locks down Finals MVP, she joins Candace Parker & A’ja Wilson as the only players in history with College MOP, National Title, WNBA DPOY, and Finals MVP.”

“Clearly, she still has more to do in the W, but when you think about the legacy of collegiate plus the legacy of W, she’s just a few minutes away from cementing herself this early in her career. Cementing herself is having an All-Time Great resume. Absolutely astounding what she’s doing,” Acho remarked on the Speakeasy podcast.

Joining a list with legends Candace Parker and A’ja Wilson is a dream for any player, and with three games done and dusted in the WNBA Finals, it’s safe to say Angel Reese is on course to do just that. After all, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year is the reason the Dream were able to bounce back from their Game 1 performance and bounce back in Games 2 and 3 against the Golden State Valkyries.

When the Dream lost Game 1 to the Valkyries 68-64, Reese went scoreless in the second half after recording 14 points and 12 rebounds before the break. After the game, Reese told the media she wasn’t “aggressive enough with the ball” and would do a better job next time.

This wasn’t just a declaration. Angel Reese put all the pressure on her shoulders for a team playing their first WNBA Finals since 2013. And sure enough, she talked the talk and walked the walk.

Trailing by a game, Reese recorded a massive 30-point, 16-rebound game, making her the youngest player in WNBA history to achieve such numbers. The Dream leveled the series 1-1 at the Valkyries’ backyard.

While Reese didn’t come close to her Game 2 performance on Wednesday, she did score a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Dream to victory at State Farm Arena. The Dream won Game 3 by 26 points. They scored 97 points, which is a franchise record for them in the WNBA Finals.

According to ESPN Insights, the 24-year-old is the first player in WNBA history with a double-double in each of their first three career Finals games. Reese has clearly become the anchor of head coach Karl Smesko’s side in just her first season. Should Reese and the Dream continue with this momentum in the remaining games of the series, the Finals MVP crown is locked in for the Bayou Barbie.

The former NFL player is not the only one pushing for Angel Reese to win the Finals MVP. Speaking on ESPN’s “First Take” on Thursday, Chiney Ogwumike backed the 24-year-old for the ultimate MVP crown.

“The A in Atlanta right now stands for Angel Reese… She has been the missing link for a team that has had talent. She now sets them over the edge,” Ogwumike said about Reese.

Ahead of the Finals, Golden State Valkyries star Gabby Williams was also a frontrunner for the award. However, she has not come to the party in Games 2 and 3 after her game-high 26-point performance in Game 1. Williams shot 3-of-15 in Game 2 and 5-of-18 in Game 3, contributing 29 points in both games combined.

Angel Reese and the Dream can drive the ultimate dagger in the series by taking a 3-1 lead at State Farm Arena, a venue they have never lost in the playoffs. Two wins away from eternal glory, it will be interesting to see how the Dream plan for Game 4 on October 24.
