STUNNING new renderings of the Kansas City Royals’ new ballpark have been released.
The Royals are preparing to construct a $1.9 billion ballpark as they look to leave Kauffman Stadium.
New images from architectural firm Populous have been shared by the MLB franchise on social media as they prepare their fans for the future.
“A new crown jewel for Kansas City is taking shape,” the Royals captioned their Instagram post.
One image is an overhead shot showing the stadium at night in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
Other renderings show fans filling the ballpark, with a prominent water feature flowing behind the outfield wall.
Additionally, a giant golden crown has been designed to sit over the jumbotron.
The latest renderings have left fans stunned as they prepare for a new era of baseball in Kansas City.
“Downtown baseball is just a better vibe,” one fan said on Instagram.
“Wow!! Amazing! Congratulations!!” another shared.
However, some fans have taken issue with the lack of parking lots available at the proposed stadium.
“Nowhere to park or tailgate,” a third fan commented.
It follows previous renderings highlighting the Kansas City skyline as part of a $3b redevelopment project for the area.
The Royals announced their intentions to construct a new stadium after their NFL neighbors the Kansas City Chiefs revealed they would be crossing state lines.
Both the Royals’ Kauffman Stadium and the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium are located within the Truman Sports Complex, with demolition of the venues now looking likely.
A possible move to Clay County had been explored before the historic MLB team settled on a move downtown.
The Royals are set to receive $600 million in public funding to encourage the franchise to remain in Missouri.
They are expected to sign a 30-year lease to play at the new ballpark, beginning in 2030.
