Duke point guard Deron Rippey Jr. had a phenomenal scrimmage against the Tennessee Volunteers, leading the Blue Devils with 21 points off the bench. Rippey Jr. was tremendously efficient as well, finishing the contest on 9-for-12 shooting to go along with three steals, three assists and one rebound.
Rippey Jr., who showcased his athleticism all offseason, is quickly making a case to become Duke's starting point guard. Either way, he figures to play a prominent role in Jon Scheyer's rotation, having led the Blue Devils in minutes off the bench in each of their first two contests.
Coming out of high school, Rippey Jr. was a five-star prospect, ranked among the top-10 in the class of 2026. He also earned Gatorade New Jersey Boys Basketball Player of the Year honors twice.
