Lille head coach Davide Ancelotti has emphasised the importance of a collective defensive approach to neutralising Victor Osimhen ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter against Galatasaray.
Ancelotti’s men are set to welcome the Turkish Super Lig champions to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy for their Matchday Three fixture.
Osimhen is expected to spearhead Galatasaray’s attack, with the Nigerian international widely recognised as one of the most dangerous strikers in world football.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Ancelotti acknowledged the forward’s immense quality, stressing that stopping him would require a coordinated team effort rather than relying on an individual defender.
“We stop him with a collective effort. It doesn’t depend on one player; it always depends on the collective,” Ancelotti said.
The Lille manager also praised Osimhen’s outstanding influence during his spell at Napoli, where the striker played a crucial role in the Italian club’s Serie A title-winning campaign.
“He’s a player who, at Napoli, almost won the Scudetto single-handedly,” he added.
