WASHINGTON, October 26. /TASS/. Russia’s Stanley Cup winner Alexander Nikishin has inked a one-year contract with the US-based NHL club Carolina Hurricanes, the club’s press office announced in a statement.

The contract with the 25-year-old Russian defenseman was signed for one season and stipulates a salary of $3 million.

"We’re glad that Alexander is returning to our group," the statement quotes Carolina Hurricanes General Manager Eric Tulsky as saying.

"This has been a long process, but we look forward to him re-entering our locker room ready to contribute with the Hurricanes, as he did during a Stanley Cup championship season last year," he added.

According to the club’s provided data, "The 25-year-old was named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team in 2025-26, after ranking second among NHL rookie defensemen in goals (11) and points (33) and tied for second in assists (22)."

"[Nikishin] appeared in 17 playoff games for the Hurricanes in 2026, earning one assist and helping Carolina capture the Stanley Cup," the statement added.
