Supercar looks, a roaring engine note, and a bright Lamborghini yellow finish usually cost a fortune. A go-kart from Xiaomi offered all three at launch for roughly the price of a decent e-bike, as long as you could live with a top speed that wouldn't trouble a school zone.
According to The Drive, the kart was created to celebrate Xiaomi's tenth anniversary. The company teamed up with Segway-Ninebot, which in turn asked Lamborghini for help. The Italian brand's Sant'Agata team agreed, so this is a real collaboration, not just a badge on a standard kart.
Although the kart was unveiled back in 2020, it has found a second life. Even six years later, reels of it have surfaced on social media and gone viral, introducing the pint-sized supercar to a new audience that missed it the first time. One reel, in particular, demonstrates the kart's top speeds across different driving modes, including Eco, Strada, and Sport Corsa. It also features a red selector button reminiscent of the controls found in a real Lamborghini. However, the $10,000 price tag displayed in the video may be exaggerated.
The Ninebot Go-Kart Pro Lamborghini Edition has aggressive aerodynamic touches, including a front chin splitter and a rear wing in the style of the Superleggera. A red stripe runs through the middle of the bodywork. The compact steering wheel is modeled on Formula 1 designs and features a working digital speedometer.
The sound system is the most fun part. Four speakers play music over Bluetooth, or they can imitate the sound of a V8 or a V12 at full throttle.
Underneath the styling is a small 432-watt-hour battery. Segway says it is good for about 15 miles of travel at up to 25 mph, enough to complete around 20 laps of a 1,200-meter track. Riders can weigh up to 220 pounds, so adults are welcome. The reel suggests that the kart reaches its top speed only in Corsa mode.
The Drive states that the regular Ninebot sold in the US under the Segway name has no splitter or wing. It covers 13.7 miles per charge and reaches just 15 mph, and the Lamborghini Edition costs about twice as much. Both versions have a hand brake and a foot brake, which makes sliding through corners easy.
According to Motor1, the Ninebot Go-Kart Pro is finished in Giallo Orion yellow and carries Lamborghini badges and stickers. It also features a comfortable seat by karting standards. The LED headlights glow Ice Lake Blue, and the custom tires are designed to make drifting easier. The battery's endurance is roughly 62 laps of a 400-meter circuit.
The kart's price of just under $1,500 was its China launch price in 2020. Anyone importing one today should expect to pay considerably more once shipping, duties, and reseller markups are added. It is a novelty more than a bargain. Enthusiasts hunting for an unusual gift may still find it tempting.
