The half-time player ratings for Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash against Chelsea are in, with the Lilywhites heading into the break level at 0-0.

Tottenham first-half player ratings vs Chelsea

Antonin Kinsky – His blushes were spared five minutes in after a poor pass following a Chelsea break. Neto intercepted but did not attempt the chip. Kinsky made a few good saves, though one from Henderson was self-inflicted after another loose ball to Neto invited pressure. Spurs remain determined to play through the press and, at times, Kinsky has managed to do so. It is high risk, but Chelsea have not punished them yet. 6.

Archie Gray – Held his own well against Quenda on the right and has had to pick his moments to go forward, with Spurs attacking mainly down the left. He made one good run, but Tonali’s pass was lacking. 6.

Jan Paul van Hecke – Alert defensively, he snuffed out a couple of Chelsea crosses into the box. He also played a key role in building from the back. 7.

Micky van de Ven – Little to do defensively with Chelsea not particularly threatening. His role has been more about helping in the build-up, with Van Hecke and Van de Ven central to Spurs’ plan to play out from the back. 7.

Andy Robertson – A bright spark down the left, constantly on the move and combining well with Maddison and Tel. He is not afraid to deliver balls into the box and created the best chance of the half, cutting back for Marmoush, who fired straight at Penders. 8.

Sandro Tonali – Operating in a more advanced role, often dropping into tight spaces to help Spurs play through Chelsea’s press. He has done so effectively, also making a good run from deep, though Robertson’s pass failed to find him. 7.

Mateus Fernandes – Playing deeper in the No.6 role, he made a few interceptions and tackles to disrupt Chelsea’s forward play. However, he almost cost Spurs a goal when dispossessed by Neto after trying to buy a free kick near his own corner. 7.

James Maddison – Not shying away from the ball, often picking up positions in pockets and demanding possession. Closely marked by Caicedo but still managed to underlap Tel, linking well down the left. 7.

Mohammed Kudus – Came close around the 20-minute mark, firing wide after meeting a Tel cross. His work rate out of possession has been excellent, tracking back defensively and heading clear from Chelsea corners. 6.5.

Omar Marmoush – Struggled with the physicality of Chelsea’s centre-backs and found it difficult to hold the ball up. He did, however, have the best chance of the half, firing straight at the goalkeeper after Robertson’s cutback. 5.

Mathys Tel – Spurs’ outlet ball, with Kinsky often looking to find him when Chelsea press. Tottenham are keen to isolate him one-on-one against Neto, hoping to exploit defensive weaknesses. 5.5.
