Quentin Folliot Receives 20-Year Match-Fixing Ban, Le Parisien Says

French tennis player Quentin Folliot faces a definitive end to his professional career after receiving a 20-year suspension for match-fixing, Le Parisien reported. The 27-year-old athlete was penalized by the International  Tennis Integrity Agency following 27 separate breaches of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program, which included fixing 11 matches, accepting bribes, and offering payouts to fellow competitors.

In his first major interview since the start of the case, Folliot described a daily sense of emptiness and characterized the penalty as a sporting and social death. The former world No. 488 told Le Parisien that he knows no life outside of  tennis, having left school at a young age without knowing what path to pursue next. He has appealed the sanction to the Court of Arbitration for  Sport.

The Disciplinary Penalties Imposed by Investigators

The International Tennis Integrity Agency announced the 20-year ban on December 11, 2025. Investigators initially recommended a 15-year suspension, but extended the ban after discovering that Folliot deliberately obstructed the investigation. Records show he blocked his mobile phone, refused to submit it for inspection, and urged another player to destroy evidence.

In addition to the two-decade ban, Folliot was ordered to pay a $70,000 fine—an amount exceeding his approximate $60,000 career earnings on the court—alongside the forfeiture of over $44,000 in illicit gains tied to corruption.

Early Recruitment by Betting Networks

Folliot admitted that his involvement with betting syndicates began when he was a teenager. He stated that outside fixers first approached him at age 16 or 17, drawing him into a cycle from which he found it increasingly difficult to escape. Once he agreed to fix matches, he faced persistent threats from syndicate members demanding further manipulation under the threat of severe consequences.

While acknowledging that he deliberately lost four matches, Folliot denied being a central figure in an organized betting network and rejected allegations that he actively corrupted other players. He defended his early compliance by noting that few suspended players existed at the time, leading him to believe he could avoid detection.

Folliot Challenges Ban at Court of Arbitration for Sport

The legal battle now rests with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, where Folliot is challenging both the severity of the 20-year ban and the specific accusations regarding his role within the syndicate.
