SEDIBENG.- Tshepo ‘Drogba’ Gumede (22), who is probably the youngest on his team, has scored his first goal in the ABC Motsepe League.

This Ben 10 FC forward came off the bench and scored the third goal in their game against JBM FC at President Park Stadium on October 11.

Ben 10 FC walked away as winners.

The former NWU Vaal youngster got a big break to play in the ABC Motsepe League after being signed by the club’s coach, Katleho Tau.

Tau followed Gumede’s progress while he was playing for NWU Vaal FC in the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League last season. He saw potential that not every coach noticed, even though he didn’t feature regularly for NWU Vaal FC last season.

Tau had faith in the youngsters despite his lack of game time.

When Ben 10 FC was promoted to the ABC Motsepe League, Gumede was one of the players that Tau immediately signed to strengthen the squad.

At the age of 22, he has a bright future ahead of him if his current performance is anything to go by.

Gumede is a hard worker and always applies pressure on opponents’ defenders and goalkeepers.

This youngster almost joined Kaizer Chiefs’ development team after he was recommended by Thomas Tema, who was previously involved with Mmabatho FC, where Gumede played before joining NWU Vaal FC.

He is a young man with big dreams.

I’m ready for the new challenge.

He wants to play top-flight football and also for Bafana Bafana.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Gumede said he is grateful to play in the ABC Motsepe League at this young age.

“I really want to thank Coach Tau for believing in me when I thought my football career was not moving.

I’m going to reward him for his confidence in me, especially considering that the ABC Motsepe League is one of the toughest leagues. I’m ready for the new challenge, and I’m happy because the senior players here help me a lot. I learn a lot from them,” he concluded.
