POLOKWANE – Mitchell House is celebrating coach Tumelo Mmola’s achievement after he passed his Fide Arbiter (FA) examination, marking an important step in his chess officiating career.
The qualification, awarded under the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (Fide), the International Chess Federation, is internationally recognised and equips Mmola to take the next step in his development as a chess official.
His sights are now set on the International Arbiter (IA) title, the next milestone in his journey.
“Well done, coach,” said the school’s sports director, Mituxa Lopes, who praised Mmola’s achievement as a reflection of his dedication, knowledge and passion for chess.
She added that his success was also a proud moment for Mitchell House’s chess programme.
Executive head Renier van Eyssen also congratulated Mmola on earning the qualification and wished him well as he works towards becoming an international arbiter.
