Angola club Wiliete are to complain to the Confederation of African Football about an altercation between their Brazilian coach Beto Bianchi and Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Steve Komphela that they claim left Bianchi needing medical treatment.
It came after the final whistle of Sunday’s African Champions League second round, first leg tie in Lubango where the two teams played out a goalless draw.
Wiliete vice president Vitorino Vissele said Bianchi suffered injuries, including a blow to a sensitive area, and had to be treated in an ambulance at the stadium for some 30 minutes. As a result, members of his technical staff attended the post-match press conference on his behalf.
A physical altercation took place in the stadium tunnel involving Bianchi and Komphela, who has since claimed the altercation was triggered by alleged racist remarks, insults in Portuguese and being spat on.
Any disciplinary action from CAF will depend on the report from the match commissioner.
Wiliete travel to Pretoria for the second leg at Loftus Versfeld on Friday with a place in the Champions League group phase at stake.
