Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has identified ways Amakhosi can go back to winning trophies.

In the past 11 years, the Soweto giants have only won one trophy. With another trophyless season looking likely, Katsande has given his thoughts on how Amakhosi can return to the top again.

“For me I just feel like they just need to have consistency. When you want to compete with the big boys and you want to be part and parcel of that top three we were last season, we need to be consistent,” Katsande told KickOff.

“Each and every game we need to be competent, you know the culture of Kaizer Chiefs, you just need to win, no matter you are having a bad day at the office but you need to win.”

“Salt and Pepper” explained the importance for the club winning trophies.

Chiefs finding it difficult to win trophies

“For people to fall in love with Chiefs is about winning and winning trophies, so those guys need to know where they are, the coach also needs to know that the people are thirsty to win silverware and bring back the club where it is supposed to be,” Katsande added.

Amakhosi crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup on Friday and on Tuesday, they host TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout round of 16. Failure to win the match, could see Chiefs only banking on the Nedbank Cup next year.

With Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates looking strong, it remains unlikely that Amakhosi will win a trophy in the near future.
